Since we are Dunedin movers, we like to blog about the many attractions in Dunedin. Take a look at our posts on the Dunedin Marina and the Dunedin Green Market. Two great reasons to move to Dunedin. For a small town, Dunedin has a lot going for it. One of those other things is baseball. Lot’s of baseball.
Dunedin has a baseball stadium that hosts a minor league team and a professional team during MLB Spring Training. The Dunedin baseball stadium, officially named the Florida Auto Exchange Stadium, has a seating capacity for a little over 5000 people and is within a stone’s thrown of downtown Dunedin. It is a cozy little stadium that in 202 was ranked by Sports Illustrated as one of the top 5 places to watch a spring training game. Dunedin Stadium is an old ballpark. It was first built in the 1930’s and has hosted spring training as far back as the 1950’s. The stadium has been renovated from time to time (once in 1990 and again in 2002), but still has the old-world charm that you would expect from Dunedin.
During MLB Spring Training Dunedin hosts the Toronto Blue Jays. Dunedin has been hosting the Blue Jays since 1977. Spring training runs through the end of February until the end of March. Pre-season is s great time to see your favourite team at a small venue. I’m not sure of the exact number of games for next season, but I believe there are 15 pre-season games played at the Dunedin Stadium, so there is plenty of opportunity to go and see a game. You can get all the gory details on Blue Jays spring training here.
The Dunedin stadium is also the home field of the Dunedin Blue Jay, a MLB minor league team. You can catch their games all summer long. They have their own website where you can get game and ticket information as well as learn something about the team.
All in all, Dunedin, Florida is a great place for a baseball fan to get plenty of baseball action throughout the season. So, if you are thinking of moving here, don’t forget to call us and arrange a mover with the best Dunedin moving company around.
