Along with the weather, the moving season starts to heat up around this time of year. Temperatures were in the upper 80’s last week, and you could feel the moisture in the air. A clear indication that a change was in the air. This hot humid air is also a sign for movers that the busy season is right around the corner.
Next week, most of the schools in the area will be out for summer and families will be looking to make those moves they were planning for this winter and spring. This is one of the main reasons why summer is so busy: families moving.
When the busy season is on us, all the major moving companies are busy. All the quality moving companies are busy, and some of the not-so-good moving companies are busy too. Summer sees a lot of seasonal moving companies get into the act. The seasonal companies use trucks with no logos and questionable, untrained staff. These are the companies you want to avoid.
We have written about the moving horror stories on numerous occasions here. Don’t let this be you. To make sure that your move is timely and conducted by a professional moving company, get an early start. Believe it or not, we often get calls from people who want to move on the same day or same week. This is often no problem during the winter, when things are slower and these quick moves are easy to accommodate. But, in the summer, you will have a tough time finding quality movers on such a short notice. So book a month early and call a week out to confirm.
